Copying Rebuild Disk

  1. Format new disk
    1. Insert any blank or unused disk into the floppy drive.
    2. Under the My Computer folder find the Floppy Drive.
    3. Right Click the Floppy drive and select “Format…”.
    4. Select “Create an MS-DOS startup disk”.
    5. Now, select “Start”.
    6. When the computer is done formatting the disk open the floppy disk and look at its contents.
    7. Under “Tools”, select “Folder Options…”.
    8. Choose the “View” tab.
    9. Deselect “Hide protected operating system files”.
    10. Make sure that “Show hidden files and folders” is selected.
    11. Now select “Apply”.
    12. Now, there are more visible files on the floppy disk.
    13. Select all files on the disk and Delete them.
    14. When asked to “Confirm File Delete”, choose “Yes to all”.
    15. You now have a disk that doesn’t have any files on it.
  1. Copying files
    1. Eject the newly formatted floppy and insert an existing Rebuild disk
    2. Open the rebuild disk and look at its contents
    3. Once again, go through steps (g.) to (k.) from above to make sure that all hidden files are visible
    4. Create a New Folder on the desktop, name it “Rebuild Disk Files”
    5. Drag all files from the rebuild disk into the “Rebuild Disk Files” Folder on the desktop.
    6. After all files are copied to the folder, eject the rebuild disk and insert the disk you formatted in Step 1.
    7. Open the blank formatted disk
    8. Also, Open the “Rebuild Disk Files” folder on the desktop.
    9. Making sure that all files are visible, select and drag the files from the “Rebuild Disk Files” folder to the blank formatted disk.
  1. You have now created a new Rebuild Disk.
