At times, users might come up to the counter with a faulty disk. They usually cannot open their files because the disk is giving the error message, “Do you want to format the disk” or is taking really long to open up a file. One possible reason for this problem is that the file or the disk is corrupted. Try opening the file yourself to see if they were doing the correct procedure. However, there is nothing that we can do most of the time when a disk is corrupted. If you encounter such a problem, ask users to try opening the file in another computer or in the library.
Note:
1. Formatting a disk will erase all the information in it.
2. We do NOT entertain request from students who want us to sign a note for their instructor saying that the disk is empty.
