How to connect a laptop to the projector:

  1. Plug the laptop’s power supply into the electrical outlet.
  2. Look for the VGA cable at the desk and connect it to the laptop.
  3. Switch on the laptop and the projector.
  4. Press the Data 1 button on the remote.
  5. Open the document from the laptop.
  6. The document is now projected on the big screen.

Note

It is important that the user connects the VGA cable to the laptop FIRST before switching it on because the cable might not be “plug and play” compatible.

The following methods can be employed when there is nothing on the projected screen:

1.      Restart the laptop (This will solve most problems).

2.      Make sure the VGA cable is plugged in properly.

3.      Make sure Data 1 is selected on the remote.

4.      Make sure “Multiple Monitors” or “Plug and Play Monitors” is selected.

a.       Right click on the Desktop and click on Properties on the menu.

b.      Click on the Settings tab and change the display option from the drop-down menu.

5.      Toggle between CRT and LCD. For laptops checked out from the library, hold the green Fn button together with the LCD/CRT button and release them immediately. This may vary from one laptop to another. Try repeating this a few times if it doesn’t work.

a.       The first attempt will only show the document on the laptop.

b.      The second attempt will only show the document on the projected screen.

c.       The third attempt will show the document on both laptop and projected screen.
