How to plug in headphones

Rows D & E

  1. Plug the headphone to the green jack at the back of the CPU.
  2. You can either go under the desk or you can pull the entire CPU out of its storage area for easier access.
  3. Users will most probably need an extension to connect the headphone to the CPU. There are two types of extensions, the straight and the curly one. (There are some incidents in which some headphones do not emit any sound when connected to the straight extension. However, this problem might have been fixed.)
  4. Connect one end of the extension to the end of the headphone; and the other end to the green jack.

Rows B & C

  1. Plug in the headphone to the jack next to the floppy drive at the front of the CPU Tower.

How to fix a faulty headphone (all rows)

  1. Double check to see if the cable is plugged in properly.
  2. Verify if the program being used needs a headphone.
  3. Change the headphone/extension.
  4. Disconnect the extension (if any) and only plug the headphone to the jack. This will tell you if the problem is due to the headphone or the extension.
  5. Make some adjustments to volume control panel.

a.    To access the panel, locate the volume control panel icon on the lower right taskbar.

b.    Double click on it. The panel will pop out looking something like this.

c.    Make sure the “Mute All” button is not checked.

d.    Then, make sure that the Volume Control bar is not all the way down.

6.      Restart the computer.

7.      If steps 1-6 doesn’t work, report the problem in the blue book.
